D&P Partners’ Conference on the Reconstruction and Recovery Efforts in Yolanda-Affected Areas 

Co-convenors: Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (D&P), Caritas Filipinas Foundation (CBNCP-NASSA), Freedom from Debt Coalition, Focus on the Global South

OBJECTIVES:

  1. Determine the status and challenges of the reconstruction efforts by government and non-government actors in Yolanda-affected areas and communities;
  2. Ascertain the extent and level of participation of the local people/ the affected population in the multitude of reconstruction programs implemented by various organization at all levels;
  3. Learn from the recovery and reconstruction experiences of other countries (Haiti, Aceh) and international organizations; and
  4. Come up with recommendations and actions on how to address identified challenges, issues, and gaps concerning the reconstruction efforts towards addressing short-term and long-term needs to rebuild communities and people’s lives.
