On Tuesday, 6 June 2022, Focus on the Global South together with the Institute of Asian Studies (IAS), Chulalongkorn University Social Science Research Institute (CUSRI), Department of Government, Faculty of Political Science (PolGovt) and the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies co-organized an online discussion titled “Democracy and Election: Between Hope and Despair? — Southeast Asian Perspective for the Future”. In the event, we’re discussing the lessons learned from the recent general election in the Philippines and the local election in Bangkok, and how the results reflected the state of democracy in Southeast Asia.

The discussion was co-moderated by Naruemon Thabchumpon from the Institute of Asian Studies and Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University, and Shalmali Guttal, executive director of Focus on the Global South. Below are the full list of speakers from the event:
