Pablo Solon, Director of Focus on the Global South and the former Bolivian Ambassador to the UN, argued against the proposals for a “green economy”, pointing out that governments must accept that there are limits to profit-making. Solon was speaking at a public debate organised by CEO, Friends of the Earth Europe and TNI to discuss whether the EU’s pursuit of the green economy was a solution for Rio+20 – ahead of the UN Rio conference on sustainable development later this June.
