In commemoration of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, Focus on the Global South, presents the video documentary, “Sulagad: Our Life, Our Future”
Sulagad is the indigenous concept on food sovereignty and agroecology realized by the Téduray and the Lambangian indigenous peoples of Mindanao.
Focus hopes to contribute to the strengthening and advancement of the Sulagad system as a concrete peoples’ alternative to the dominant paradigm of market-driven corporate agribusiness. We also envision that this video would contribute to the ultimate goal of securing biodiversity and protected forests, advancing indigenous peoples’ rights, and the promotion of indigenous agroecology, sustainable livelihoods, and the right to self-determination.
