Quezon City, 1 October 2014— A year after what could have been an unprecedented decision by the Regulatory Office of the government agency Metro Manila Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS-RO) to roll back water rates in September 2013, the people still await the ruling's implementation.
On Sunday, hundreds of thousands gathered in New York for one of the biggest marches against climate change. The occasion is the Climate Summit convened by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, the theme of which is "take action." But does that action actually include measures that could do further harm to the planet?

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is hosting a Climate Summit in New York next week. Expected to attend are top officials from all UN Member States, big transnational corporations, financial institutions, and a few select civil society representatives. The goal is to build political will for a global agreement at the official negotiations in Paris in 2015 that would limit the world to a temperature rise of less than 2°C.
