On September 29, Focus on the Global South is launching its newest publication, the quarterly Focus on the Global South-Philippines Policy Review, at the Asian Studies Center in the University of the Philippines-Diliman, Quezon City, 4-7 P.M. The launch will also serve as a roundtable discussion on the theme of the first issue "Breaking Away from the Legacies of the GMA Regime through Policy/Systems Reforms." The main speaker is Akbayan Party-list Representative Arlene Bag-ao. Akbayan is leading initiatives in the House to undertake measures to prosecute the former president, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, for the cases of corruption and abuse of power she had been implicated in. There will be reactors representing other sectors and non-government organizations, including Ms. Yuen Abana from the labor sector and Ms. Maita Gomez of the Action for Economic Reforms.
